Jean Painlev, a French film maker with an interest in biology. Painlevs breakthrough came in 1935, with his film "LHippocampe" or The Seahorse. In the wave of his success, in 1936, Painlev and his wife commissioned a range of seahorse jewellery. This piece, a yellow metal torque bangle, topped with bakelite and two gold coloured seahorses. It's
