Vintage Gold Winkle Charm van cleef & arpels some wear to the crystalDATE: Vintage, 1969 Charming 1960s winkle charm in 9 karat gold. The gold has an incredibly finely textured finish, quite lifelike, with a full set of (tiny) Birmingham hallmarks. Winkles, aka Periwinkles, are a small, black, snail like shellfish that form a traditional part of a British seafood platter. Sold live or cooked, and often by the pint (apparently enough for three or four people), winkles represented a certain working class solidarity
