Ferdinando de Luca (also known as Francesco de Luca) was an Italian sculptor working  in the later part of the 19th century and early part of the 20th century

the painting is housed in a contemporary Dutch ripple style frame with a gilded border

The case is hallmarked to the gilt interior with the lion passant mark and the silver purity mark for 875 and the goldsmith's stamp for Hirsch Markowitsch

The top having cut corners with a band of blue around the rim
